1. WWE United States Championship Fatel-4-way match
Kofi Kingston (c) vs William Regal vs Matt Hardy vs MVP
This match was a superb choice as an opener and really got fans excited, true there were a few botched moves and a fatel 4 way isn't so "extreme" but these 4 great wrestlers did their best with the little time they had and really gave an entertaining contest, in which everybody got a chance to shine. 4/5
2. WWE Intercontinental Championship No Holds Barred Match
Rey Mysterio (c) vs Chris Jericho
Another dose of wrestling magic from two competetors who are involved in the rivalry of the year. There was little use of weaponry but a chair was used appropriately and both men did not need the weapons to entertain the crowd. The match went back and forth with thrilling counters and fast paced action, not to mention a superb and well-timed and delivered ending. A MUST WATCH. 5/5
3. Samoan Strap Match
CM Punk vs Umaga
Although this was o.k it paled in comparison to their Judgment Day contest and there was really little heat occuring during this match, it was just O.K. As a result there was not as much atmosphere and although Punk and Umaga tried they really couldn't get everyone interested in this. The strap was used quite well and there were a few big moves but with a bit of a lame finish and some too slow pacing, this was not as good as it could have been. 3/5
4. ECW Championship Triple Threat Hardcore Match
Christian (c) vs Jack Swagger vs Tommy Dreamer
Probably the most extreme match on the card, what could have been a bit boring actually turned out very well indeed. All 3 competetors delivered their own styles and it all meshed well making for an engaging contest. There were only around 3 weapons used but they were used in a variety of ways, which kept things interesting. Best of all though was the ending, Dreamer's win was perfect and created a feel-good moment with a good celebration afterwards. Not the match of the night but a thoroughly entertaining bout. 4/5
5. Miss Wrestlemania Hog Pen Match
Santina Marrella vs Miss Wrestlemania Vickie Gurrero
Goodness Gracious Me the last time I saw a contest this bad was...well I can't even remember when. This was a theif of 20 minutes of a PPV time, surely this match could have never happened, I doubt there is on fan who thought this is brilliant. This time could have been used to the U.S title match or to add a bonus match. A truely terrible contest with no humour, limited action and an uninterested crowd. 0/5
6. WWE Championship Steel Cage match
Randy Orton (c) vs Batista
A short and unsatisfying match in which the cage was barely utilised and the venomous and dangerous Randy Orton looked helpless throughout. All this build up and the result was arounbd 8 minutes, I heard it was due to Batista being injured but couldn't someone have been added or something done because despite some solid wrestling this was pretty poor. Not to mention the completely unneccesary title change. 2/5
7. Submission Match
Big Show vs John Cena
Same as their JD match a really monotonous affair, which moved at a snails pace. I really am not liking Big Show's new methodical submission style, he used to be way more entertaining. Just like last time I actually fell asleep during this match and woke again just before the ladder match (luckily), so I had to re-watch it the next day (unluckily). For most of the match Show dominated, again, until Cena made his comeback, with a sloppy ending, to hopefully finish the worst feud of the year. 1/5
8. WWE World Heaviweight Championship Ladder match
Edge (c) vs Jeff Hardy
Although not quite as spot filled and show stealing as I initially thought it would be this was an excellent main event. Both men delivered a variety of moves, some of which were very cringe-worthy, the match moved along at a great pace with only a few uneventful spots and both guys worked their socks off and it was evident. The finish was very unique and rounded off a superb contest. 4/5
9. CM Punk cashes in the Money in the Bank Briefcase
Although I personally didn't like the title change here, this was extreme-ly shocking and was a good ending to the PPV and did the job more so of making CM Punk a villain.
Overall: A potentially superb event ruined to a degree by 1 dissapointing and 2 apalling matches but still well worth your money

Extreme Rules 2009: - June 7 2009 - New Orleans Arena - New Orleans, Louisiana
UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP:
FATAL-4-WAY MATCH:
Kofi Kingston vs. William Regal vs. Matt Hardy vs. MVP
1. a fatal 4 way match is NOT an extreme stipulation. 2. this match isn't extreme either. really a sleeper match. 6 minutes that was thrown away without second thought.
6/10 - 6:43 minutes
INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP:
NO HOLDS BARRED:
Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho
this is the cleanest no holds barred match ever! not to say it's not a good match match 'cause these guys' matches are all great. amazingly fast match, rey mysterio actually gets unmasked. but obviously, the camera angles don't let you see it. great match.
10/10 - 14:46 minutes
SAMOAN STRAP MATCH:
CM Punk vs. Umaga
this is umaga's last match since his release from wwe, and quite a good last match. it was badly written but entertaining at some points. good usage of the strap.
7/10 - 9:02 minutes
ECW CHAMPIONSHIP:
TRIPLE THREAT HARDCORE MATCH:
Tommy Dreamer vs. Christian vs. Jack Swagger
great match from ecw, kendo sticks, chrutches, garbage cans & a stop sign. but, this match cannot top the past 2 hardcore matches. (WM22 - Backlash 2004) i dont understand how tommy can be proud to be ecw champion in 2009. ecw timeline: 1992-2001 (hardcore) 2005-2009 (not!) okay match. nice high spot in this match onto trash cans!
9/10 - 9:41 minutes
MISS WRESTLEMANIA CROWN:
HANDICAP HOG PEN MATCH:
Vickie Guerrero & Chavo Guerrero vs. Santina Marella
different concept in this match to win than usual. boring match and not funny. at all. 1 thing about the "Lawler & Cole" commentating that i hate is that they sell comedy in wwe. they laugh at nothing??? if you like 2 people rolling in mud then this is the match for you!
3/10 - 2:45 minutes
WWE CHAMPIONSHIP:
STEEL CAGE MATCH:
Randy Orton vs. Batista
short cage match. hardly any throws into the cage. this match was supposed to be a 20 minute match but because of batista's biceps injury they shortened it. no jumps or anything off the cage.
7/10 - 7:07 minutes
SUBMISSION MATCH:
John Cena vs. Big Show
boring, sleepy, lazy, slow was the only things put in this match. 20 minutes of "boring" chants. at the end cena puts show's leg between 2 ropes. which should have counted as a rope break and the ref should have broke the submission hold held by cena. but no, the ironic thing happened.
3/10 - 19:04 minutes
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP:
LADDER MATCH:
Edge vs. Jeff Hardy
match of the night!!!!!! twist of fates and spears off and onto ladders. these guys went all out. jeff broke his finger and dislocated his shoulder in this match. edge suffered severe bruising. big spot is when jeff and edge are on a ladder, tip it over and snap a placed ladder in 2 spaces!!!!
10/10 - 20:18 minutes
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP:
MONEY IN THE BANK CASH-IN:
CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy
surprising end to extreme rules. quite good, crowd was electric.
9/10 - 1:03 minutes
PPV BUYS: 213,000
STATUS: okay
WORST MATCH: cena vs. show
BEST MATCH: edge vs. hardy
TIME: 178 mins.
