Backlash 2009

2009 wasn't a great year for PPV in the WWE, this PPV and the Royal Rumble were the only good PPVs of the year, sadly, and well, im happy that this PPV is very good.

If you forget about the stupid Santina/Great Khali segment in the middle of the show, this PPV is pretty damn good.
Even though most of the matches are Wrestlemania re-matches, most of them are better than the original matches at Wrestlemania.

Jack Swagger vs Christian was a great opener, i was surprised how long it was and this match showed what Jack Swagger had (look at him now) and christian showed that he still had it even though he had been gone from the WWE for a few years.

Chris Jericho vs Ricky Steamboat was great, surprising aswell, it was great seeing ricky steamboat take it to Jericho and and they managed to have a great match.

CM Punk vs Kane was an average match, more like a good TV match than a PPV match, but at least its better than santina...

Jeff Hardy vs Matt Hardy was the only match that wasn't better the original WM match, it was an alright I Quit match, the ending was a bit bad, but other than that a rather average I Quit match.

Triple H vs Randy Orton is actually better even in the 6 man tag situation, and the ending, when i watched it live on sky sports that night, got me jumping off the sofa.

John Cena vs Edge was the best match of the night, some GREAT spots was much better then the triple threat at WM, the match was an instant classic for last man standing matches and will be remembered as one of the best of its kind.

So, this is one of the best PPVs of 2009, the card was strong and didn't dissapoint, and as i said, 2009 wasn't the best year for WWE PPV, so this was refreshing especially after Wrestlemania (even if it had HBK vs Taker) which i thought wasn't that good.
If you want a PPV from 2009, get this one, or the Royal Rumble, both good, you won't be disappointed

a strong backlash. cena vs edge was a good match, big show's interference not being a complete shocker but a very snazzy way of finishing the event. six man tag was ok, ricky the dragon steamboat once again showed his timeless worth against y2j. good stuff all round

ECW CHAMPIONSHIP:
Christian vs. Jack Swagger
this is the best ecw title match of 2009. inside and outside ring action. christian exposes the turnbuckle here. nice sneaky ending.

Chris Jericho vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat:
really good high flying match. ricky is about 55-56 and he still does huge leaps off the top rope. you can see at some points that y2j helps steamboat sometimes. but very entertaining match.

Kane vs. CM Punk:
really boring match. what a grim mid-card match. slow points. actually the whole match is slow.

I QUIT MATCH:
Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy
the first 5 minutes are pretty boring. but when jeff gets slammed into the barricade, the match gets really good. superb ending. jeff duck tapes and ties matt to a table. then jeff gets a 10ft. ladder climbs up and wham!!!!! through the table!

6-MAN TAG TEAM MATCH:
Legacy vs. Triple H, Shane McMahon & Batista
batista ruins this match. he really does. but very well played out and written. exciting moments from all 6 guys. steel chairs used which is cool. nice RKO at the end. oh orton punts someone in this match. guess who? they go out on a stretcher which is cool.

really amusing match. steel steps, steel chairs thats about it on weapons but, you can't miss these things; fu off announce table onto about 10 fans!!!!! fighting up the stairs and into the consession stands!!!!! a bulldog off the stage onto 2 anvil cases!!!!! a chokeslam (by big show) off the stage through a 7000 watt electrical light!!!!! and more...
